Secrets of successful websites

Google Caffeine

Google is launching a new version of its search engine soon. Google Caffeine aims to improve the speed, accuracy, size, and comprehensiveness of Google search.

A sandbox was opened for developers to test Caffeine and give their feedback.  Generally, feedback was very good, so they now plan to roll it out in the New Year.

Google operate a number of data centres, and when Caffeine is live, certain people will be able to experience the effects of the new technology if their particular search query is sent to the data centre which has been upgraded.

A Google spokesman would not reveal the exact timing of the roll out nor the location of which data centre Caffeine will be activated in. However, Matt Cutts has indicated that it will be early 2010 - http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/google-caffeine-update/

We did not test Caffeine, however, Ben Parr at Mashable did.  One thing that interests me from his research is that the algorithm’s have more reliance on keyword content strings to get better results.  Something that we have been promoting for a long time at PlannedSites.

Here are Bens results - http://mashable.com/2009/08/10/google-caffeine/
